This version is pretty ambitious, delivering a LOT of expanded scenes.  It still feels very much like the original Woolsey translation, but it explores such questions as:

• Why was Celes branded a traitor?
• Did Cyan know who Sabin was when they met?
• Why can Celes sing like she does?
• Did something happen between Setzer and Maria?
• Where was Celes during the banquet?
• Why was Relm in the cave on the Veldt?
• And many more!

DOWNLOAD - Final Fantasy VI: General Leo Edition Hack v2.1

Gentle Reader,

Version 2.1 of the General Leo Edition hack is here!  For those already playing Version 2.0, take heart:  this patch only introduces minor changes and improvements to areas such as:  Esper spell lists and learn rates; a handful of item stats, shop contents, and treasure chests; tweaks to a few townsperson sprites and palettes; the correction of some typographical errors; and, similar miscellany.

You should be able to transition from 2.0 to 2.1 without too much trouble if you wish to.  However, this may cause some disruption to what spells your characters are learning, due to the changes to some of the Espers.  I would probably suggest continuing with 2.0, as you are unlikely to really notice any changes anyway.  Story events and the ending are unchanged.

General Leo Edition: Important Notice!!!

Gentle Reader,

Just found a pretty serious bug in the General Leo Edition hack, which will be corrected in Version 1.1.

General Leo joins the party when they return to the airship after the events at Thamasa.  Here's the thing... to get Leo to appear, when you are prompted to "Find the Floating Continent," "Lift-off," or "Not just yet," be sure to choose "Not just yet."  This is what actually activates Leo and adds him to the party.  If you don't do this the first time... then Leo won't join in the World of Balance.

I am so sorry that I didn't catch this! Again, it wasn't my intention to do it this way, and the error will be corrected in the next release!

DOWNLOAD - Final Fantasy IV: Golbez Edition Hack v1.4

Gentle Reader,

Version 1.4 of the Playable Golbez Edition hack is now available.  Before you get too excited, this update is just a quick bugfix of the least release.  Specifically, it was pointed out to me that the last two revisions contained a bug that created problems for the Black Chocobo Farm in Toroia.  Version 1.4 repairs that bug but is otherwise identical to Version 1.3.

Bug Report

Gentle Reader,

A reader just pointed out to me a bug in the Playable Goblez Edition ROM hack that was apparently introduced in version 1.2  Simply put, the Chocobo Farm in Toroia is glitched.  The townspeople do not appear as they should and also the warp point connecting the two interior maps causes the game to freeze.  I apologize for not noticing this sooner but will try to have a remedy included in the next release.  (Good thing this is strictly an optional location with no items inside!)

UPDATE - Final Fantasy IV: Kain "Unhelmeted" Hack

Gentle Reader,

This is a modest revision to the "unhelmeted Kain" mini-hack that I released about a year ago.  The update consists of... (drum roll...) a modified menu portrait, based on Kain's appearance in The After Years.  I will probably do a Version 3.0 of this hack eventually that includes a modified battle sprite, but I just haven't gotten around to designing one yet.

Final Fantasy IV: Surprise Poses

Gentle Reader,

While I was working on my Golbez hack, I found myself wishing that Final Fantasy IV included the "surprise" poses found in Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI.  So... I made them!

When and how would you use them?  Well, Final Fantasy IV playable characters have two poses for waving.  Only the first of these two poses is used in the vast majority of instances.  So, you could definitely get away with replacing the second one with a surprise pose, or whatever else tickles your fancy.
