The Eyes Have It

Gentle Reader,

I grew up in the heyday of the nighttime soap, and one unforgettable element of my childhood landscape was Knots Landing.  I was just a kid then, but I've never forgotten Karen, Val, Abby, and their crazy drama.

Donna Mills was made famous by Knots Landing, and I don't think anyone can deny that she was (and is) an extremely beautiful woman.  But one rather amusing footnote to her career is the makeup how-to video that she made back in the 80's.  I think it was available off of the TV via mail order.

Anyway, check out this highlights video, it really made me smile.  Her makeup advice is actually pretty strong, and it's worth noting that Donna was allowed to do all of her own onscreen makeup, which is unheard of.  Still, the styles are understandably dated, and there's something about her low-key, big sis, yet totally glamorous and sexy delivery that pushes this into hardcore camp territory.

I love it.
