  2. Um, I don't know if you saw this, but I'm going to repeat a post I made about a year ago pertaining to a certain change in this hack...

"I probably should have posted this earlier myself, but I just noticed it reading through the list of changes in 1.3.

"This might be controversial, but Tellah no longer gains these "overpowered" spells: Cure4, Life2, Fire3, Ice3, and Bolt3. He does get Safe, Shell, and Dispel, for what it's worth."

I have no problem with this, as it makes certain bosses (Cagnazzo especially) a joke. However, if you still have it (and I belive you do), you MAY want to change the random battle guarding the Slumber Sword in Eblan Castle in that case; that battle pretty much requires use of Fire3/Ice3 to win, and if you don't have either, you're just going to die. And the Slumber Sword is worthless if you don't pick it up before the Magnetic Cavern, so waiting for better character isn't really an option."

    1. I do remember your comment... now. Ha ha, I'm afraid I had quite forgotten about this point. It's definitely something I will consider for the inevitable bugfix release to come!

  3. We can't really call Golbez a Dark Knight anymore if he doesn't have his DWave Command. Which is why I think you should return his DWave Command

    1. What job class would you recommend? I'm not sure what else to call him. I also like the parallel with Cecil, where both of them have to overcome their Dark Knight-ness and become true heroes.

    2. Is golbez a Dark Knight in the first place? He has an awful lot of magic at his disposal. In ff4, that lightning strike that wipes the party out in the crystal room, for instance.

Dissidia describes him as a "Thaumaturge," which I found odd because that word is synonymous with "miracle worker."
He fights bare handed there and sort of just decimates anyone who dares to get close with rapidly executed chains of dark magic.

But then in after years, he can equip virtually any weapon. So I'm not sure. Lunarians are scary.

    3. Golbez has never really had a job class at all, but FFIV is structured such that I had to give him one.

I'm sticking with Dark Knight. First, like I said, I like the parallel that it makes with Cecil. Beyond that, who says that all Dark Knights need to have the exact same ability set? Rosa and Porom are both White Mages but their commands are different.

    4. Well, you could give him the Lunarian job, like he has in The After Years

  5. I figure I may as well make another attempt to contact you, as it's been a while sine my last attempt. And this time, I actually have something relevant to say! Or rather ask, but anyway.
    The skeleton enemies on Mount Hobs (wait, let me get the name real fast...oh, just Skeleton. Anyway!) gave me a weird drop item. It's called "Pass" and it has a diamond icon in front of it. Now, I've only finished FF4 once, and it was a fan translation of the Japanese version, but nothing's coming to mind as to what this could be. No one seems able to equip it, and perhaps more telling, I for some reason cannot discard it. What's going on? Did I break something? Again? XD ^_^;

  6. Okay, so I figured out what the Pass is used for (how could I forget?! sheesh! XD), but I still doubt you meant for a Skeleton to drop it THAT early in the game, however rare, considering it's an easy 5000 Gil. Anyway! So I'm at the point where
    *spoilers*
Cid did NOT blow himself up, and thus he rejoins the party after sealing the entrance to the Underworld
    *spoilers*
and he's is equipped with a Gaia Hammer, a Mythril Helm, an Ice Armor, and a Mythril Gauntlet. Nothing wrong with that, offhand. But there's one tiny problem... As soon as he un-equips the Mythril Helm or Ice Armor, he can't re-equip them! I can't imagine that you purposefully gave him equipment that you never intended for him to (re-)equip naturally, so. ^_^; I just wanted to bring that to your attention and check on that.

  7. Speaking of the Pass item, I come back to report that now I've seen the Mage enemies from the Magnetic Cave also drop that item. I was fighting them because I'd read that using Alerts on the first floor of the Magnetic Cave was the best way to try to get the Mind Flayer summon.
Can the Mage enemies still drop that summon orb? I've gotten Ethers, a HiEther, and two Elixirs from those Mages so far, and that Pass item. Can a single specific enemy drop one of only four different items? Am I out of luck on that Mind Flayer summon? I don't know how drop mechanics in FF4 work, so...

  8. Just finished playing it and I loved it ! Terrific job. I had just one small issue : when I tried using Golbez' "Press" command, the game crashed. Just telling you for your next fix release. I also wish Golbez hadn't returned to the moon with FuSoYa in the end, but oh well, no biggie. Loved it and can't wait for your next hacks.
