Rejection

My plan was to post an inspirational quote about dealing with rejection.  However, I find that all of the quotes about rejection are pretty stupid.  I mean, finding the silver lining and whatever else, it all misses the point.  People suffering from a rejection don't want to hear about how being rejected will ultimately be for the best.  That never comforts anybody.

The bottom line is that rejection is terrible, and the only way of getting through it is simply that:  getting through it.  Surviving.  There is no avoiding it, and no mitigating the pain that it causes.  All we can do is live to fight another day.  Or is it, fight to live another day?

What I am experiencing right now.  Namely, taking your sweet time getting ready to go out (as in, like, hours) and STILL having to wait on your friend to get herself together.  ARGH!

Okay, okay, I realize that this is really, really minor in the scheme of things.  I just don't enjoy pacing back and forth waiting on someone!  ARGH ARGH!

The Eyes Have It

Gentle Reader,

I grew up in the heyday of the nighttime soap, and one unforgettable element of my childhood landscape was Knots Landing.  I was just a kid then, but I've never forgotten Karen, Val, Abby, and their crazy drama.

Donna Mills was made famous by Knots Landing, and I don't think anyone can deny that she was (and is) an extremely beautiful woman.  But one rather amusing footnote to her career is the makeup how-to video that she made back in the 80's.  I think it was available off of the TV via mail order.

Anyway, check out this highlights video, it really made me smile.  Her makeup advice is actually pretty strong, and it's worth noting that Donna was allowed to do all of her own onscreen makeup, which is unheard of.  Still, the styles are understandably dated, and there's something about her low-key, big sis, yet totally glamorous and sexy delivery that pushes this into hardcore camp territory.

I love it.

So, I'm looking to get out of apartment living and buy myself a condo.  It's exciting, and I found myself browsing the web for decorating ideas.  I think I found just the style that I'm looking for.

This was Coco Chanel's place.  Think I could pull it off?  More importantly, can I do this on a K-Mart budget!?

Response to Golbez Edition Hack

Gentle Reader,

I've received a lot of feedback on my Golbez Edition hack of Final Fantasy II/IV.  Honestly, the response was much larger than I anticipated, since I made virtually no effort to publicize the release.

Anyhow, some of the feedback has been quite consistent, so I am planning an update to address issues that have come up, including:

• A need for enemy difficulty to be increased during sections of the game featuring new party members.
• Further refinement of the script in sections still containing distracting howlers.
• Rebalancing of certain spells and equipment.
• Plus, a few minor items here and there that I've discovered myself.

I'm hoping to have an update patch released within the next 30-60 days.
